Lyoto Carvalho Machida (Japanese: 町田龍太, Machida Ryōto, Portuguese pronunciation: [liˈotu maˈʃidɐ]; born 30 May 1978) is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and karateka. [5] Nicknamed "The Dragon", he was known for his unorthodox style in MMA that mainly combined Shotokan karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
