Seattle police report recruitment hits highest level in over a decade
The Seattle Police Department is celebrating what it’s calling a “surge" in officer recruitment, as the department sees its highest number of applicants since 2013.

After struggling to find police recruits for the department, Harrell said Seattle reported its highest number of recruits in the last 10 years. There were over 4,000 applications to work for the Seattle Police Department (SPD), more than double the amount received in 2023.
