A shooting near Central Phoenix on Tuesday evening left one man dead, prompting the Phoenix Police Department to open a homicide investigation. The shooting occurred at around 9:32 p.m., police said. Officers responded to the area of 26th Place and Monte Vista Road. A man had at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man is dead following a shooting near 24th Street and McDowell Road, Phoenix Police said. No suspects are in custody.

PHOENIX - No suspects are in custody after a shooting late Tuesday night left a man dead. The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. Phoenix Police officers responded to the scene and found a man with at least one gunshot wound.

The last time Phoenix’s high temperature was below 100 degrees was on May 26. It hit 102 F (38.9 C) the following day and the triple-digit streak started. Since then, Phoenix has broken more than a dozen city heat records including the most days at 110 degrees F (43.3 C) or hotter — 61 — and 39 mornings with lows only dropping into the 90s.

A sigh of relief likely went out across Phoenix on Tuesday after the city finally ended its record streak of 100 degrees or warmer temperatures, which started in late May.

Phoenix broke its string of 113 straight triple-digit days. But after a brief cool-off, we will be back in the 100s again.
