Earth will have a temporary mini-moon for 2 months this fall
You might not be able to see it without a powerful telescope, but Earth will get its own mini-moon for 57 days this fall as a big space rock known as 2024 PT5 cruises alongside us in a partial horseshoe-shaped orbit. This mini-moon should be pulled into our planet’s gravitational ZIP code from Sept. 29 to Nov. 25, according to NPR.
