Maryland has filed a lawsuit against the owners of the cargo ship that collided with and took down Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge in March.

The state of Maryland has added to the legal troubles facing the owner and operator of the container ship Dali, which caused the deadly collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge after the massive vessel experienced an ill-timed electrical blackout and other failures.

"This disaster was entirely preventable had the Dali's owners and operators exercised proper care and diligence," Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown alleged in a claim filed in the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse.
