HBO’s invisibility cloak is starting to come off of the top-secret Harry Potter series casting process, and it makes sense that we would start with our fifth (fifth!) Dumbledore in less than 25 years.

Mark Rylance is at the top of the casting wishlist for the new HBO "Harry Potter" adaptation, Variety has learned from sources familiar with the project. Rylance, who is starring as Thomas Cromwell in the highly-anticipated BBC period drama "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and The Light" (based on Hilary Mantel's novel),

Succeeded by the late Michael Gambon after Harris’ passing in 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was the debut of Albus Dumbledore who would finish the films out. According to a Variety article on Monday, British actor and playwright Mark Rylance is "at the top of the casting wishlist" to play Albus Dumbledore in the series. It's a pretty prestigious pick for the show; among Rylance's accolades are an Academy Award, three BAFTA Awards, two Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards.

Reports are HBO and Warner Bros. Television's adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" novels is eyeing Mark Rylance to play Dumbledore.
