Democratic Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer issued a statement over the weekend claiming that a recent viral video in which she appeared to mock the Eucharist with a Dorito was misconstrued

Michigan's Catholic bishops have expressed "profound disappointment and offense" after that state's Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appeared to mock the Eucharist in a social media video posted by feminist author and podcaster Liz Plank.

Michigan Catholics have since protested outside Whitmer’s home in a 'Rosary Rally for Religious Respect' organized by CatholicVote, a political advocacy group.
