The Sunshine State is claiming dibs on being the first to officially recognize the Gulf of America as the body of water's new name.

The bills will ensure the 'Gulf of America' name change is reflected in new school materials and at state agencies.

Florida school books and more will be required to refer to the Gulf of America rather than the Gulf of Mexico.
