Texas junior quarterback Quinn Ewers has declared for the NFL draft, ending a Longhorns career in which he led the program to a Big 12 championship and twice to the College Football Playoff but was not always embraced by a fan base eagerly waiting for Arch Manning to take over.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday. The decision ends his career with the Longhorns and clears the way for Arch Manning to start in 2025.  Ewers came to Austin as a transfer from Ohio State with tremendous hype as the first perfectly-rated quarterback in the 247Sports Composite since Vince Young.

Quinn Ewers is heading to the NFL. After much speculation as to whether the Texas quarterback would enter the transfer portal, where he reportedly had multiple lucrative offers, the junior has decided to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

After three years as a starter and two deep Playoff runs, Ewers has accomplished what he set out to do in Austin.

The Dallas Morning News' Kevin Sherrington recently wrote that the second or third round seems about right for Ewers, but the volatility of the quarterback position could see him go higher. Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News had Ewers going in the first round of his latest mock draft, landing with the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21 overall.

The Arch Manning era starts in 2025 at Texas. That's because Quinn Ewers announced Wednesday he will enter the NFL draft and leave the Longhorns. Ewers finishes his college career throwing for 9.128 yards and 68 touchdowns in three seasons.

Ewers, a three-year starter, was expected to turn pro after leading the Longhorns to consecutive playoff appearances.

The decision was largely expected after Ewers told ESPN last week that he didn’t plan to return to college football in 2025.
