DJI has lifted its geofence that prevents users in the US from flying over restricted areas like nuclear power plants, airports and wildfires, the company wrote in a blog post on Monday. As of January 13th,

For over a decade, you couldn’t easily fly a DJI drone over restricted areas in the United States. DJI’s software would automatically stop you from flying over runways, power plants, public emergencies like wildfires,

DJI abandons the geofencing of its drones in the USA, which prevents their operation in restricted areas. Geofencing will be abolished in other EU countries too.

Another day, another major update from a company that might still be facing sanctions or a possible drone ban in the United States. But regardless of any pending sanctions, DJI is still hard at work churning out new drones and gear.
