In a significant move toward addressing Europe’s stringent data protection regulations, Microsoft’s GitHub has announced that it will offer enterprise clients the option to store their sensitive software code exclusively within data centers located in the European Union.

From next month, Microsoft-owned developer platform and source code repository GitHub will offer robust data residency features for Australian users, as well as those in the European Union. The upgrade is for the GitHub Enterprise Cloud offering, with data residency being available from October 29.
