The oldest lighthouse on Lake Champlain dates back to the 1820s, when the lake was an important passageway for lumber and iron ore. To guide vessels into Burlington Harbor, Juniper Island Lighthouse was built three miles offshore from Burlington’s waterfront in 1826, making the tower almost 200 years old.
