Amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration, Portland Police Chief Bob Day is clarifying his bureau’s role on immigration enforcement.

The Portland Police Bureau won’t help federal immigration enforcement efforts in the city, Chief Bob Day said in a statement Tuesday that reiterated existing policy against cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a letter addressed to the community, PPB Chief Bob Day said his agency is committed to serving all Portland residents regardless of immigration status.
