BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Broome-Tioga NAACP observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday with a celebration of his life and legacy at United Presbyterian Church.

The third Monday of every year, we as a nation, remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A life dedicated to nonviolent activism for the Civil Rights Movement and a legacy of reformation in equality.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Tallahassee branch of the NAACP on Monday held a march to the Florida Capitol.

JACKSON, Tenn. — There was a full day of events held by the Jackson-Madison County branch of the NAACP. Many people gathered at the T.R. White Sportsplex Monday morning for a celebration of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which started with a breakfast.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Rochester Branch hosted a series of events Monday in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Despite the First Alert Day with below zero temperatures, dozens of locals showed up for an indoor freedom rally and march.

COLUMBIA — On a frigid morning, several members of the Columbia NAACP and other community members gathered at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at Battle Gardens to pay homage and honor the legacy of the civil rights activist. Dedicated in 1993, the memorial remains a symbol of King's legacy.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Greene County Chapter of the NAACP had a commemorative service at Best Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The theme “We Were There” emphasized the connection members of the congregation had with their ancestors and the beliefs they hope to continue

In spite of the temperatures that were lower than usual, activities celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day continued on Monday.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is about unity, the celebration of King’s accomplishments and continuing to dream of peace, said Lenoir-Rhyne University students.

In Pueblo, people gathered at the El Pueblo Museum to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. The event was organized by the NAACP of Pueblo and the museum.

The life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lives on in the Granite State, more than six decades after his passing.
