The Pittsburgh Steelers have a decision to make regarding the futures of quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields ahead of free agency.

Pittsburgh Steelers owner and president Art Rooney II said Monday that he expects either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields to return at quarterback next season. But not both. Rooney addressed Pittsburgh's quarterback situation and reiterated his support of head coach Mike Tomlin during his end-of-season news conference.

The season may be over, but the Steelers are already gearing up for the fall and are in the middle of a quarterback debate.

Fields' age might make him more appealing to other teams. Meanwhile, the Steelers have six other starters set to hit the market.

Rooney said on Monday that he believes in both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and would prefer to sign one of the two passers

Head coach Mike Tomlin was noncommittal about any plans that the team has at the position, but Rooney said in a session with reporters on Monday that he doesn’t expect both players back. Rooney said he would like to see one of them back as part of the team’s approach to 2025.

For the second straight offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have major quarterback questions. Last year, the team completely revamped its quarterback room in search of answers behind center. But that’s not what Steelers owner Art Rooney II would prefer the team do again.
