Hurricane Helene, a massive, destructive Category 4 hurricane causing catastrophic storm surge, made landfall late Thursday night. More than 1.2 million homes and businesses are without power.

After Hurricane Helene slammed Florida's Gulf Coast as a destructive Category 4 system, many residents are feeling the secondary impacts of the major storm. Current maps show that there are more than 100,000 customers across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina without power.

Officials with Alabama Power say they are fully prepared to support restoration efforts wherever needed after Hurricane Helene moves through.
