Amid the ongoing controversy over use of ghee containing animal fat at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, the Karnataka government issued a directive on Friday (20 September) that mandates the use of Nandini brand ghee across 34,000 temples under the state's temple management body.

Amid the ongoing Tirupati Laddu row, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), which supplies the ghee for the prasad, said the vehicles are being tracked with a GPS system to avoid adulteration. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) recently handed over the ghee supply contract to KMF’s Nandini dairy.
