The Times is collecting stories and images of what was lost in the fires from affected communities in Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, Malibu and others.

The Palisades fire — which has invaded Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Topanga and Mandeville canyons — was 63% contained. Firefighters inched further on the Eaton fire — which has caused destruction in Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre — achieving 89% containment, according to Cal Fire.

Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

Firefighters continued their efforts on the Palisades and Eaton fires on Saturday, hoping to make as much progress as possible before another round of fire weather is expected to return next week.

As Los Angeles residents shift from emergency to recovery mode after the pair of devastating wildfires, crews are well on their way to full containment of the blazes. According to the latest numbers released by Cal Fire,

Over a week after destructive wildfires erupted in the Los Angeles area, fire crews have made progress with containment and stopped growth of the Eaton and Palisades fires.

The Lilac Fire triggered multiple rounds of evacuations in Bonsall, a small community about 45 minutes north of San Diego. "Immediate threat to life," read an urgent warning from Cal Fire issued shortly before 5 a.m. "This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW. The area is lawfully closed to public access."
