Firefighters started gaining control on Friday over a stubborn wildfire near Los Angeles that destroyed at least 132 buildings and damaged 88 others, as many of the more than 10,000 people forced to evacuate were able to return home.

A new wildfire was reported today at 4:52 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment progress of the fire and its cause has not yet been determined.

Thousands of people were urged to flee an out-of-control wildfire burning around communities near Los Angeles on Thursday, with dozens of homes already lost to the fast-moving flames.
