Palestinian officials say an Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering a displaced family in the central Gaza Strip, killing at least three people including the parents of twins.

At least 23 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes on two houses in central Lebanon where displaced families were reportedly living, the Lebanese health ministry says.

Israeli strikes killed dozens of people including children on Sunday in Lebanon and northern Gaza, where the military has waged a major offensive for more than a month that aid groups say has worsened the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

An Israeli airstrike killed at least 23 people in the village of Aalmat, north of Beirut and far from the areas in southern and eastern Lebanon where the militant Hezbollah group has a major presence. Lebanon's Health Ministry said a further six people were wounded. There was no immediate Israeli comment.

The latest bombardment came as the U.S. said it would not reduce its military support for Israel after a deadline passed for allowing more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
