WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. rocket propulsion startup Ursa Major said on Tuesday it was awarded a $12.5 million contract to build out production and testing for new solid fuel rocket engines.

The US Navy plans to use 3D printing to produce solid rocket motors, a faster and cheaper way to manufacture weapons like Javelins and GMLRS.

OSC was established to increase investments in priority critical technology areas for national security. Ursa Major will focus the investment on advancing manufacturing capability in the areas of propellant manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and composite case winding in support of SRMs for national security missions.
