Gavin Creel, the Broadway actor known for roles in “Hair” and “Hello, Dolly!,” died Monday at the age of 48. The death was confirmed by his partner Alex Temple Ward, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Gavin Creel, a Broadway veteran who won a Tony Award for "Hello, Dolly!" and nominations for "Hair" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie," died Monday of a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He was 48.

Creel's publicist said he died at his home in Manhattan of metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma.
