Groundhog Day is just around the corner, and PETA is again trying to offer up an alternative to Punxsutawney Phil.

In a Tuesday letter addressed to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s president Tom Dunkel, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk is offering a "weather reveal" vegan cake each Groundhog Day in order to "replace [the] exploited groundhog.

Each year on February 2, Groundhog Day, a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil emerges from his temporary home on Gobbler’s Knob to predict if we will see an early spring or have six more weeks of winter-like weather.
