The Eaton fire is burning near Altadena and Pasadena. Here is information on evacuations, shelters for people and animals, and road and school closures.

Fire officials suspect that more than 7,000 homes, business and other structures in Altadena, Sierra Madre and Pasadena have been damaged or destroyed by the wind-driven flames, based on aerial imagery. Crews have not yet officially confirmed the vast majority of that damage.

Authorities evacuated a senior center as the Eaton Fire spread through the Angeles National Forest near Altadena and Pasadena Tuesday night.

Many who fled the flames were forced to make devastating choices about their pets. Some, terrified, hid or refused to leave. In other cases, their owners were away from home and could not safely return.

Firefighters are working around the clock to contain the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire. Thousands of people were forced to evacuate when the blazes ignited and destroyed more than 12,000 structures. Here are the latest updates.
