Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The New Year's Eve ball has officially been unveiled ahead of its big drop on New Year's Eve. Pitbull was among those to adorn the ball with special additions Friday. The ball, which weighs 11,875 pounds, is covered with 2,688 "crystal triangles" and contains 32,256 LED lights.

Starting at 11am at the Times Square Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th Streets on Thursday, December 19, One Times Square will invite the public to change out the ball’s current Waterford Crystal triangles, which will be on a one-of-a-kind display, for the newly designed triangles for 2025—the ones that will descend on December 31.
