Elliotte Friedman was talking about Brock Boeser‘s situation in Vancouver, where the Canucks forward is playing in a contract year and looking to secure himself a sizeable contract extension.

Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser is coming off the strongest season of his NHL career to date — and, with less than a year remaining on his current contract, the 27-year-old winger has put himself in a good position to earn a substantial pay increase.

Boeser missed Vancouver’s final game of the 2023–24 season—a Game 7 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round—after scans revealed clotting from a blocked shot earlier in the series. Despite the setback, Boeser reported that the clotting issue didn’t significantly disrupt his offseason training when addressing media members last May.

Dr. Brian Conway, president and chief medical officer of the Vancouver Infectious Diseases Centre and a Canucks season-ticket subscriber, offered Boeser some sage advice on Monday.

After consecutive three-year “show-me” bridge deals in Vancouver, Boeser is now starting a show-me season after scoring 47 times in 93 games.
