Never let it be said that Fox’s Rescue HI-Surf doesn’t try to deliver what’s expected of it. The action drama regularly metes out dangerous rescues of the lifeguarding variety, plunging deep into the Pacific or zipping around on a succession of jet skis.

Rescue: Hi Surf is off to a strong start for Fox. The lifeguard drama debuted to 4.7M viewers on Sunday night, according to live + same-day data from Nielsen. The premiere episode also managed a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49, which is quite impressive as scripted broadcast series rarely perform that well in same-day ratings anymore.

This new Fox lifeguard drama made a splash when it premiered, and now the second episode will premiere in the show's regular time slot.

"Back in the day if u did a tv show called surf dracula you'd see that fool surfing every week in new adventures," a famous viral tweet posits. "But in the streaming era the entire 1st season gotta be a long ass flashback to how he got the surfboard until you finally get to see him surf for 5 min in the finale.
