THE Atishi-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi will have a new minister, Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat, the MLA from Sultanpur Majra. Ahlawat incidentally is a former BSP leader who fills the vacancy created in the Delhi government by the resignation and defection of one of its ministers to the BSP.

Atishi will become Delhi’s third female chief minister, following Sheila Dikshit of Congress and Sushma Swaraj of BJP.

Mukesh Ahlawat, who is likely to handle the Social Welfare portfolio in CM Atishi's cabinet, is a first-time MLA.

Delhi’s new Cabinet of ministers, including Chief Minister-designate Atishi and six Cabinet colleagues, will take oath on Saturday, September 21.

Ahlawat, a surprise name in the cabinet, will take oath on September 21 along with other familiar faces, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Imran Hussain, and Gopal Rai.
