NEWPORT BEACH - Residents from up and down the coast are reacting to an incident involving a dog left locked in a car during the latest heat wave, which has seen temperatures hitting triple digits in some parts of the state and in the 90s along the coast.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The Newport Beach Police Department pulled a dog out of a hot car on Thursday. In a post on X, the department said it was called out to a shopping center in the city Thursday, for reports of a dog locked in a hot car. Officials did not say which shopping center.

Authorities responded to a call regarding a dog in distress inside a locked vehicle with the windows rolled up on Wednesday afternoon.
