Went to see the blue penguins. The evening was informative with guides speaking both english and mandarin. With being winter we were told there would be fewer penguins prior to seeing them. Wrapping … Full review by Redangel1508

Seeing the blue penguins was a highlight of the trip - they are so cute! I was able to get close to see the babies as well. Well worth the drive! Full review by ljb_trips

Yes you could depending on where you are. Like the other person says, check on google maps if you are ok with the distance there and back. It is a bit dark and quiet in the evening but I am sure it would be fine. I had two children so they weren’t too impressed with walking and also we were up on the hills at the back of town rather than on the flat shore front
Q:
How many are there
A:
The day we went, there were close to one hundred penguins.

We were able to see the penguins from the premium seating! I do want to mention that you get a great view from the regular seats as well as the penguins go wherever they want on their trip home and don't necessarily walk closer to the premium seats. I would recommend signing up for the viewing as its hard to see them at other times.

We took advice not to sit in premium seats as the view was better from the other stand. This was good advice for us. Also as we walked home we saw lots of the penguins on the rocks of the promenade as they made their way home. We got really close to these penguins who seemed fine with our presence. Also when we saw them in Melbourne they didn’t seem as upset by humans as we had been told in New Zealand. I am no expert but that’s what we found.
