WEBI just upgraded to a 4070 with an older gen CPU from this and it runs modern games with raytracing in 80-90 fps on 1440p. Honestly, as a first gaming PC I think Alienwares are great: you receive them ready to be turned on and used for gaming. They have decent customer service.

WEBJan 7, 2022 · In fairness to Alienware, the “proprietary” nature of the system was limited to the fact that Dell used Intel’s cooler mounting system (as opposed to AMD’s) with the Ryzen CPU. While they’re all Dell-branded OEM parts, the case and motherboard are bog-standard micro-ATX, and the PSU is, similarly, a standard ATX unit.

If you are at 90C on base clock, you probably need to repaste, the CPU should only be getting that hot when your CPU is pulling 80 or even 90+W (AW doesn't limit the CPU TDP like other manufacturers, so you have to manually set it if you don't want insanely high temps)

Absolute entry level systems, but that is fewer systems needing to be produced. Sucks for the Dell bottom line but a nice little win for the environment. R16 is ~3 pounds lighter than the R15.
